1. "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150:6, ESV)
Everyone and everything is called to praise the Lord.
2. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!" (Psalm 103:1)
Blessing the Lord includes giving something of ourselves that already belongs to God. We respond to God's blessings by blessing him with our mouths.
3. "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!" (1 Chronicles 16:34)
God is good and his love is everlasting. We can thank him for his goodness and love.
4. "Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all." (1 Chronicles 29:11)
Everything belongs to God and he is above it all. He deserves to be exalted.
5. "Therefore you are great, O Lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears." (2 Samuel 7:22)
God is great and there is no one like him. We can worship him for his greatness.
6. "Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him!" (Psalm 68:4)
We can worship God as he is the Lord above all.
7. "For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." (Romans 11:36)
God has made and deserves everything, including all glory.
8. "Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!" (Psalm 105:1)
We must thank God with our mouths and recount the things which he has done.
9. "There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God." (1 Samuel 2:2)
God is the only one who is holy and he is the firm rock and foundation on which his people may stand.
10. "I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:1)
With our mouths, we are able to bless the Lord.
11. "But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me." (Psalm 13:5-6)
God loves and saves his people. Because of his great kindness, we can rejoice.
12. "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." (Colossians 3:16)
We are to sing God's word out of the thankfulness which we have toward him.
13. "I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations." (Psalm 108:3)
It is easy to thank God with a silent prayer, but it is also wonderful to sing praises and give thanks in public.
14. "My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed." (Psalm 71:23)
God's redeems his people, which is more than motivation to shout and sing to him.
15. "Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation." (Psalm 68:19)
God carries the burdens of those whom he saves. We are weak, but in him we are strong.
16. "Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Phil. 2:9-11)
Jesus is the Lord, and one day everyone will bow to him and confess this truth, for God's glory.
17. "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Everything we do, including singing to God in worship, can be done to God's glory.
18. "Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!" (Psalm 108:5)
The previous verse acknowledges God's great love and faithfulness, which should lead us to exalt him.
19. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!" (Psalm 111:10)
God will be praised forever. We must begin by fearing the Lord.
20. "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:14–16)
Jesus is the great high priest who is sinless, yet he has still been tempted. He gives grace to those who draw near to him in confidence for his grace and mercy.
